hogwarts houses | ravenclaw
Ravenclaw may have won the house cup, but it was a bittersweet win for the Eagles this term. No news has yet to be released about the whereabouts of Thadius Potter, who has been missing since just after the holiday break. Still, the fearless Head of House Kaysha Stewart kept her spirits up throughout the term and worked tirelessly to keep her students safe and informed to what was going on. I sat down with Professor Stewart and picked her brain on one of the most challenging terms she has ever faced.
Hello Professor Stewart! Thank you SO much for taking time to interview with me. First things first - what was your biggest challenge as HoH this term? That was definitely when Mr. Potter went missing. The entire occurrence took a toll on the entire school yes, but especially on the Ravenclaws and myself.
Definitely. We are ALL still feeling the fallout from his disappearance, along with the Hufflepuff student. What are your thoughts on the mist? What do you think caused it? How do you think we can defeat it? Vile and a major inconvenience. At this moment, I cannot say what might have and the way to defeat it is to do exactly that. Once it is understood as to how it was created, the key to defeating it can be found.
Hopefully we will get more answers on that soon, we are all eager to get back in to the castle! What was your favorite lesson of the term? For sure my lesson on electricity. It was a pleasure to introduce the students who are less focused on the Muggle world to it so that they now have an idea of how important electricity is.
Electricity is FASCINATING! If you could teach any other subject, what would it be?
Charms. I would say that has always been my second best subject.
Which Muggle superhero do you think would be the best person to call to get rid of the mist?
That would be Iron Man as his technological sophistication just might be able to get to the bottom of it mystery.
I'm...not super familiar with Iron Man but I'll take her word for it!
Thank you so much Professor Stewart for taking the time out of your busy day to answer some questions. Thank you for all your time as Muggle Studies professor AND an amazing Head of House for the Ravenclaws!

prefects
Perhaps the term didn't go as expected for sixth year Ravenclaw prefect Jackson Thomas, but this returning house leader took on the challenge of getting everyone safely through the term like an old pro. We sat down with him recently to talk about how to relax, how to lead, and what's next for him.
Congratulations on another term as prefect, Jackson! How do you think it went?
Well, to be honest, there was definitely more stress. Not that last year was a piece of pie really, but each year surprised me more and more.
How did this term compare to previous ones?
This term was... well, it was like getting kicked out of your childhood home really. Definitely a bizarre experience that makes me wonder what's in store now.
What did you find harder this term than last?
Keeping a cool head when there are things out of your control going on... Screaming isn't helpful, crying isn't helpful, you have to keep your head about you. I feel that I could have kept a better control of my frustration when new issues arose.
What was easier?
Well, funny enough, this answer is kind of the same. Although I think that I struggled a lot in my earlier time as a Prefect with these kind of chaotic events, but I think that I can now get out of a sticky situation because I have gone through these experiences the last couple of years. I can use them to help me now that I'm out of here.
If someone else was offered this post next term, what advice would you give them? What would you recommend?
Well, it's an actual responsibility and it shouldn't be taken lightly. Yes, it can make your family proud, but make sure you are confident in your ability to time manage, patrol, communicate, and handle tough situations.
I know that being a leader can be stressful. What do you do to unwind?
Ah my favorite part of the day! As a Muggle-Born, I tend to choose video games and tasks that involve handiwork. I keep myself busy and distracted with a task, and I can take that moment to gather my sanity before heading back to the old grind.
Describe your time at Hogwarts in three words.
That was unexpected...
What are your plans for after school?
I want to travel for the year at least. I have a few ideas on future careers I think I have a good shot at, but as I have only seen such a small part of the magical world, I feel that it would benefit me more to explore the world before going to WU or something.
Since we all had to leave Hogwarts at the end of the term and it’s hard to know when we’ll return, what will you miss the most about the castle and grounds?
Honestly... I'll be holding on to my memories of all of us walking excitedly through the halls in our robes and heading to classes in an old magical castle! When am I going to get to do that again?
Any advice to pass to future generations?
It's all about balance! Yes, it's crazy important to study and do well in classes to be a proper wizard, but you have to have fun too. It's the time to try things, learn from those around you, and don't get caught... I'm only joking!

It may have been fifth year Ravenclaw Hanna Newton's first as a prefect, but she hit the ground running. The fifth year sat down with us to talk about how her term went down.
Congratulations on your term as prefect, Hanna! How do you think it went?
Thank you! I'm not sure I felt very confident about it. I was already stressed about OWLs this year, but then everything started to happen and then... well Tad and Kamryn. There were a lot of sleepless nights, a lot of stress and worry.
How did this term compare to previous ones?
I would have thought it was a traumatic term but the previous term we had a Professor eaten by pink mutants. So, maybe it was only a little worse than last term.
What did you find harder this term than last?
I think preparing for my OWLs this term put a lot more stress on me from the get-go, but then I also had to do Prefect duties as well as live in a castle surrounded by this mysterious mist. So already it was just going into my fifth year that would have been harder this term compared to previous terms.
What was easier?
Oh, gosh. I don't know that anything was easier. Perhaps just my confidence in classes and in being a point of reference for younger students. I felt that I knew my way around classes and Hogwarts pretty well, when younger students needed some assistance I wasn't second guessing myself anymore.
If someone was offered this post next term, what advice would you give them? What would you recommend?
Sleeping draught. Don't try and pull all nighters - especially if you're in your OWL or NEWT year. Take care of your body so that your mind can be sharp, you need it!
I know that being a leader can be stressful. What do you do to unwind?
I dance. Usually I find an empty classroom around the castle and let my body unwind with the moves. And a hot bubbly bath.
Describe your time at Hogwarts in three words.
Demanding, enlightening, dramatic.
What are your plans for after school?
I would love to become a member of the Wizengamot. I know that's a very long way away, so I'm planning on getting into the legal system by applying to Wizarding Law or the YATI programme.
Since we all had to leave Hogwarts at the end of the term and it’s hard to know when we’ll return, what will you miss the most about the castle and grounds?
My favourite thing about Hogwarts is taking a blanket, some sparkling juice, and a snack to the lake in the warm, summer sun, and reading a book. I'll miss the warm beauty of that.
Any advice to pass to future generations?
Learn everything you can! Read anything you can get your hands on, and if you don't like reading much, quiz your grandparents, your family, and Professors about their jobs, their own education, and any wisdom they can pass onto you.
